Please review the latest updates noted below in response to the wildfires in California.
We are committed to the safety and well-being of our residents. We are still watching the fires closely and are following directions from local authorities.
The state of California issued an evacuation order for parts of the areas impacted by the wildfires on Monday, October 9th. In these situations, it's important that you know we have protocols in place that include moving residents to a safer area with accompanying care associates, providing temporary accommodations as well as food, beverages and personal belongings.
We are continuing to monitor the fires and follow directions of authorities and have plans in place should additional Brookdale evacuations be needed.
We will update the website and community Facebook pages with updated information as we receive it. Please refer to this website for the most accurate information.
We were able to safety return to the Brookdale Sonoma and Brookdale Paulin Creek communities on Monday and Brookdale Chanate returned on Thursday. We assessed the buildings for structural and smoke damage and had approval from authorities and environmental hygienists that the buildings were safe to return.
We know that in situations like these where evacuations have happened that residents and families can start to get anxious to get back home. We want you to know that it’s important to ensure the buildings are safe to return home. First, we work with the authorities for clearance to return to the area. From there, our asset management team will ensure that utilities systems (like gas, electric and water) are working properly and are safe to use. From there, we have to confirm there are no structural issues. After the buildings and systems are assessed, we have to work with an environmental hygienist to clean communities of any potential smoke damage. After these steps are taken, we work with an insurance adjuster for a final clearance to return. We also ensure all supplies like food and medications are stocked.
We appreciate your patience while we work to get the communities in full working order and safe for residents to return home.
If your loved one's community is not listed, that means they are sheltering in place. Calls can be directed to their community.
The following communities have been evacuated at this time:
INFORMATION REGARDING RETURNING RESIDENTS TO THE COMMUNITIES - Residents will remain in their temporary accommodations until officials approve the return home. We appreciate your patience.
